Development & Consulting

Virginia Oil Company owns and operates BP and Liberty fuel stations (often coupled with Blimpie, McDonald’s, and Dairy Queen franchises) and convenience stores throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia. Virginia Oil Company decided to build a state of the art flagship fuel station, convenience store, and upscale restaurant the likes of which did not exist yet anywhere in the region. There were many fast food options in the new station’s area from Burger King to Hardees, but there was nothing that offered a quick, well prepared, often healthy meal for eating in or taking out. Virginia Oil president, Frayser White, refers to this as "Fast Casual." Consultant Stuart Rifkin of Rifkin Associates devised the restaurant name, Everyday Cafe, and developed the overall restaurant concept. In designing this restaurant, great care was taken to use premier building materials, sophisticated interior design choices, and high quality menu items. The most popular items in the area were featured prominently: wraps, salads, pastries and bread from Albemarle Baking Company, fine wines and cheeses, and fresh gelato. The Everyday Cafe opened its doors in April 2002.
